About us

FindACounsellor.org is a small, independent guide to counsellors and therapists in the United Kingdom who see people online. We built it because finding someone to talk to should not mean opening twenty tabs. Here you can read about people side by side and take your time.

Where the listings come from

Every counsellor here works through BetterHelp, an online counselling service, and the details on each profile come from there: the professional body they list, years practising, what they help with, the approaches they use and the languages they speak. We do not collect details from counsellors ourselves, and we do not check anyone's membership or training.

The "helps with" topics are ones each counsellor picked for their own profile. If someone appears under a topic, it means they said they work with it. If it matters to you, ask them about it.

The written parts of each profile are drafted with the help of AI from those same details, and only from them. They are meant to add nothing new: no invented specialisms, diagnoses, results or claims about when someone is free. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.

How we make money

The site is free to use and there are no adverts. If you go on to sign up for counselling through one of our links, we will earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That money does not change who is listed or the order people appear in.

What we do not do

If you need help now

This site is not an emergency service. You can call Samaritans free on 116 123 at any time, text SHOUT to 85258, or call NHS 111 for urgent advice. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.

Changes and removals

If you are listed and something is wrong or out of date, get in touch and we will put it right or take the listing down. You do not have to give a reason.
